Atop the summer sailboat mast above the vibrant harbor,
I stretch my black wings for the afternoon sun. Closing my eyes I hear
New green bear grass growing thick along the creek drainage.
And above, your lost love, floating as a slow summer cloud.
A life long Alaskan since my life began the moment I stepped foot in Alaska nearly forty years ago. Before that I spent time being gossamer and leaf. Today I use the limbs that once pushed down powerfully on ski poles and garden shovels to lift grandchildren and steady myself upon a stick, like some strange Caulder mobile. All along the way, I collected the stories I now begin to share.
