Burns Cooper moved from Austin to Fairbanks in 1990, to teach linguistics and English at UAF. He has been writing poetry for over 30 years, but at a painfully slow rate. Essays, too--even slower. He's had poetry published in Prairie Schooner, Nimrod, Ice Floe, and other locales. He also wrote the entries on "Free Verse" and "The Foot" for the new edition (coming soon) of the Princeton Encyclopedia of Poetry and Poetics. He likes skijoring, carpentry, etymology, phonetics, and dessert.
