Favorite Places in Alaska:
So many: the woods near our house, our yard, a camping site above the Glenn Highway where we woke once to a sea of fog suddenly spread out below us.
I've written since childhood in St. Louis. My husband and I came to Alaska in 1966, planning a brief stay, and we're still here. I love being part of Alaska's literary adventure. Awards to my work include a PEN Syndicated Fiction Selection, a fellowship from ASCA, a one-month residency at the Island Institute in Sitka, and a few fiction awards. I write mostly short stories, with recent work appearing in CIRQUE, CONNOTATIONS, NORTHERN REVIEW, CHARITON REVIEW, and KALLIOPE. Before being published in 2017, my new book Human Being Songs was a finalist in 2015 and 2016 for the G.S. Sharat Chandra Prize in Short Fiction held annually by the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
